While women have alwavs been crucial to coffee production in Peru, in 2004, 464 female members of CECANO asked for their product to be separated by the men's.
They felt their coffee was of higher quality due to the extra care they put into cultivation. As a result of this initiative, women now directly receive the revenue generated from the sales of their "Café Feminine" coffee.
